Informant to Testify Against Fresno Detective

Fresno, CA Officer Paul Cervantes is facing charges of stealing a vehicle from a suspected drug dealer. His onetime informant, Jesus Valles, was also charged in the crime.

Monday, Valles agreed to testify for the prosecution against Cervantes. Both men were arrested earlier this year. The deal means Valles could walk away from the case with no penalties. "What we can do is testify as to what he remembers and what he knows and he will be released once this trial is over with. And that's the best we can hope for," said Defense Attorney Ralph Torres.

Officer Cervantes remains on paid administrative leave. Jury selection in this case is expected to begin Tuesday morning.
