Lessons in Parenting

Fresno, CA Parenting is tough, and it can be even harder during these economic times. But Saturday dozens of volunteers joined together to offer free parenting advice hoping to relieve some of the stress.

About 200 parents showed up at Fresno City College to participate in a parenting conference put on by the Fresno County Office of Education and other local agencies. It featured dozens of workshops that included topics like child safety, nutrition, and money management.

Organizers said they were pleased with the turnout, and they plan to make the conference an annual event.

Michele Cantwell-Copher with Fresno County Office of Education said, "We have over three hundred people involved, we are very excited on building on the success of this first event and we are looking forward to next year's being even bigger and more successful."

Today's conference also included a luncheon for attendees. More than 20 agencies and school districts participated.
