Lt. Sharon Silva with the Livingston Police Department: "We investigated and found to be multiple shots were fired by multiple suspects into the residence where an adult victim and a juvenile victim were shot."
Neighbors who did not want to speak on camera say they heard the shots and even saw flashes of light from the guns going off just before midnight.
She said, "We were scared. Nothing like this has ever happened here."
Investigators said what makes the crime even more disturbing is that the shooters fired even after spotting the little girl through the window.
Lt. Silva: "That's pretty bad. I don't think it gets a whole lot worse than that, especially since it's believed that the suspects probably saw the juvenile victim."
Lieutenant Sharon Silva said the four-year-old had to be the flown to U.C. Davis medical center after being hit in her back and hand. The girl's father was treated and released at an area hospital.
Both the little girl and her father are now in good condition. Detectives said the shooting may be gang related, but they have not yet identified any suspects.
They're asking anyone with information to call the Livingston Police Department at (209) 394-7916 and ask for Detective John Ramirez.
