Craigslist CEO asks S.C. AG to Apologize

COLUMBIA, S.C.

CEO Jim Buckmaster on his blog Monday asks Attorney General Henry McMaster if he has fully considered the ramifications of his campaign against prostitution ads and pornographic photos on the classified ads Web site.

On Saturday, Buckmaster said there are plenty of places in South Carolina other than his Web site to find prostitution ads and obscene photos. He says the 40 "adult services" ads on South Carolina's /*Craigslist*/ sites comply with the company's terms of use.

McMaster has threatened to prosecute Craigslist executives for aiding and abetting prostitution if an ad on the Web site leads to a prostitution case in South Carolina. His office did not return a phone message Monday.
