Gunfire Led to Car Chase in Central Fresno

Fresno, CA Fresno Police Officers responded to a call of shots being fired. That led to a chase ... and eventually the beginning of what officers say could be a significant drug investigation.

When Fresno Police arrived to a Central Fresno neighborhood Thursday night they found several cars riddled with bullets.

Lt. Greg Sanders said, "The suspects were gone and they were being followed by someone who had called in and stated they were following the suspect's vehicle."

Investigators aren't revealing much about the person who followed. But his information helped a police helicopter spot the suspect's car and that led to Clovis Police pulling it over.

Inside, they found drugs, money and weapons. And they arrested two people.

"We found a handgun, several thousands of dollars, 2 large baggies of ecstasy, a large baggy of marijuana and some hashish," said Lt. Sanders.

Jesus Gonzalez said, "Wow, it never happen over here in Clovis that we know of."

Jesus Gonzalez was shocked after watching the whole scene unfold in his front yard.

Fresno Police aren't releasing too many details of what led to the shooting ... and drug seizure. They say this is an ongoing investigation ... one that could lead to an even bigger bust down the road.

"Until such time that we determine what actually took place, we have to be quiet on some things because we're still unraveling some stuff," said Lt. Sanders.

Police say aside from this shooting, there was another one in the same area early Thursday morning. No one was hurt in either. But, investigators believe the two are related, and that gangs are involved.
