Car VS House

Fresno, CA The Earlimart resident feels lucky he wasn't at home when a drunk driver ripped through the corner of his house at around 6:15 Monday morning.

Jose Garcia, Earlimart said, "One of my friends who I work with said there was an explosion at my house so i rushed over to see."

Neighbors said the loud crash woke them up.

Raul Duenes, neighbor said, "We heard an explosion and then got out and then i just seen a big old cloud of smoke so i called 911 right away".

Remarkably most of the house remained relatively intact even though the entire corner of the house was ripped off and completely destroyed

On the inside, Garcia's fan, TV and neatly-made bed looked untouched. But just a few feet away, total devastation, a collapsed roof, ripped up insulation, and valuables strewn everywhere.

The CHP believes 26-year old Edgar Rubio was driving drunk at about 70 miles per hour when he crashed and was ejected from his truck.

David Clays, CHP, said: "He's lucky he was the only one that was injured there wasn't any witnesses or victims there in the area

Jose Garcia was renting this house. He and his wife now have nowhere to stay.

Garcia said, "I feel bad because i have no place to sleep or to live."

The driver lived down the street from Garcia. His brother and cousins stopped by to see the crash scene. They say their family is suffering his loss.
