Fresno Palm Tree Struck by Lightning

Fresno, CA The storm and the lightning that came with it left a permanent mark in this East Central Fresno neighborhood. People who live near Simpson and Sierra Vista said the palm tree was struck by lightning causing it to catch on fire. The lightning strike sent embers and debris everywhere. It even broke a few windows

"Well, I was talking to my mom in the kitchen and that house just started shaking. I didn't know if it was an earthquake or what but it lasted three or four seconds and then I looked out front and the tree was on fire," said Nathan Cummings of Fresno

Fortunately, there was no major structural damage. Fresno firefighters were on scene, clearing debris and making sure none of the embers got too close to homes.
