Episcopal Split

Fresno, CA At Saint James Cathedral in Central Fresno, it was hard to tell the difference between today's Anglican service, and the Episcopal service that would've taken place a year and a half ago.

But the sign out front reflects the change and the priests inside have now lost their positions with the Episcopal Church.

Van McCalister, Anglican Priest, said "It's very disappointing. Extremely disappointing. Because I love the church."

Jim Stickney, Epispocal Priest, said "I'm hopeful that this theological division will come to a resolve before too long."

Bishop Jerry Lamb ousted 61 priests and deacons who followed their former bishop, John-David Schofield, away from the church in a dispute over what to preach.

The fight reached its tipping point when the Episcopalians appointed an openly gay bishop.

The priests are now involved in a legal battle over whether they get to stay in the buildings they use for service.
