HWY 41 Has Re-Opened after a deadly Head-On Collision

Fresno, CA The North and Southbound lanes of Highway 41 were closed until approximately 12:25pm Monday afternoon.

It happened on the highway at Mount Whitney just after 7am Monday morning.

The C.H.P. said the driver of a silver Nissan was travelling southbound on the highway, when for some reason it drifted to the right on the shoulder, over-corrected and ended up crashing head on with the big rig. Apparently, one of the big rig's gas tanks ruptured in the accident.

The driver of the Nissan was killed in the accident. Crews took the driver of the big rig to Community Regional Medical Center where he was treated for severe burns.
