Last Minute DTV

Fresno, CA For those of you watching this newscast, you're DTV ready. But hours after most stations made the switch, we still found plenty of people at local electronics stores who weren't.

"I'm just the ultimate procrastinator. I waited til the last minute. Luckily they still had some in stock. I'm gonna go home and try to figure out if I can hook it up on my own or not," said Nick Vitali.

"This way I can just hook up and watch channel 30 and not have to worry about it in the morning," said Dennis Hanson.

"And you waited til the last minute?"

Hanson said, "Of course, I was hoping I could get the u-verse hooked up so it could work in the kitchen, but it won't."

Best Buy in River Park is one of several Valley retailers selling converter boxes. If you have an older TV and are still using antennas, it's what you'll need to switch over to digital. But, by late Friday afternoon, they only had about 75 left.

"We thought that a lot of people would be completely good to go and would've gotten it and everything like that. But there's actually quite a few people that have waited til right before or right now to come in and get them," said David Cook.

People shopping for converter boxes at River Park's Target were out of luck late Friday.

"We still have people coming in asking for them but unfortunately, as you can see we're all sold out."

With the digital switch now underway, the Federal Communications Commission, along with Valley retailers are urging people to be DTV ready.

If you know someone who isn't, help them make the switch. Target at River Park tells me they hope to get a new shipment of converter boxes soon.

Meanwhile, Best Buy at River Park expects to run out within the next few days.
