Protestors Demand Mike Nelson Resign from Air Quality Board

Fresno, CA They -- and State Senate Majority Leader Dean Florez -- are upset about a comment Nelson made at a meeting last month.

The supervisor admitted he tends to "tune out" certain activists when they testify before the board because they don't always tell the truth. But Nelson says that statement has been taken out of context.

"The point of my comment was even though sometimes I think the testimony that's given is untruthful, I still need to pay attention to what everybody is saying, we all need to work together or else we're not going to get it to work," said Nelson.

Nelson says he has no plans to resign. And Merced County Board Members who have the power to remove him from the post say that's not something they're considering.
