Family of a Murdered Fresno Man Searches for Answers

Fresno, CA Police are working the streets. Family members are too. They have been combing the area, especially apartment complexes describing the black mountain bike to people and asking if anyone has seen it within the past day.

Soap suds and scrubbing at times Tuesday was interrupted by a washing of tears.

Family members raising money for a funeral showed up sleep deprived and seemingly no closer to finding the suspects or the bike that belonged to Jorge Nino De Rivera.

Victim's Daughter-In-Law Laila Cardosa said, "Been trying to trace back his steps. We've gone to the local grocery store where he was last seen at as well as the gas station at Chestnut and Butler. We were up until 2 in the morning to see if someone had the bike."

Loved ones got one definite answer at the Vallarta Supermarket where surveillance video taken from a camera outside shows the 61 year old pedaling past at 9:43 a.m.

Twelve minutes later he was shot in the chest at a bus stop nearby.

Police say a motive is unclear. Although the suspect's bike was stolen, other items of value were left on the victim.

Family members say they especially want those who live in Southeast Fresno to be on the lookout for any potential suspects and the custom bike, rebuilt by Nino De Rivera himself.

"If I can sit here and do whatever it takes to get one step ahead and give these police officers any information and help them find who did this. I'm going to do it, I'm going to do whatever it takes," said Cardosa.

Police say they have no firm leads right now. Investigators say the suspects were cautious about not drawing any attention to themselves. Officers still believe this was a random murder. If you have any information you are asked to call the Fresno Police Department.
