This morning, there was still dried blood on the sidewalk where Luis Maldonado was shot.
Sheriff's deputies say Maldonado was walking with a 13 year old friend when a group of teens approached them and an argument broke out.
That's when someone pulled out a gun and shot the 16 year old.
Sheriff Mark Pazin said the murder appears to be gang-related, and it's the third in Merced County in just the past week.
Mark Pazin, Merced County Sheriff said "It has been an absolute shooting gallery here in Merced County. It appears every conflict resolution has to happen at the end of a gun."
No suspects have been arrested for Maldonado's murder.
