Eyewitness News reporter Eric James suffered a frightening experience on his way to work, and found himself in the position of victim, rather than reporter. He says he was kidnapped while on his way to work early this morning and police are now investigating.Eric says he was at the intersection of Westheimer near Westcreek when a gunman approached his car and told him to open the door. Eric says the man told him to drive him to Beaumont, roughly 90 miles away, where he was trying to see his child.

When they arrived in Beaumont, the suspect made a call to the child's mother, but her father answered, and told the suspect not to come to the house. Eric says the suspect told him to turn around and drive back to Houston.

The man got out of Eric's vehicle at Irvington and Cavalcade in northeast Houston. He hasn't been caught. Eric was not hurt.
