Visalia Police said the woman went to her ex-boyfriend's house yesterday evening to pick up their 2-year old son. Police say 23-year old earl Mitchell locked himself and the woman in his bedroom.
A roommate heard two shots and kicked down the door to see what happened. Mitchell died and the woman was shot in the head. As of Wednesday afternoon she was on life support at Kaweah Delta Hospital.
Police said the woman's son was in the car with his grandmother and did not see the shooting. Investigators said witnesses and family members told them they never thought the couple's problems would escalate to this level.
