The hiring office opened at 8 a.m. and started handing out applications. A Winco spokesperson told Action News the Kings Canyon store is expected to employ just over 200 people when it opens on August 31st. If other stores are any indication, they expect as many as four thousand to apply.
For some people, Tuesday was their second attempt. "Yesterday it was really long and I didn't want to wait out in the heat. So I just wanted to come in the next day as early as possible," said job applicant Dennis Teasley.
Monday the wait in line turned violent and a fight was captured on cell phone video.
Police said the fight was a result of a long standing family feud. Five people were arrested.
The fight didn't bring an end to Winco's hiring effort.
