Last Last Minute Gottschalks Sale

Fresno, CA The items for sale are items the liquidators did not want. This sale started Monday and Gottschalk's management says every minute the crowd inside continues to grow.

This is finally it. Gottschalks last, last minute sale. And it did not take long for word to spread about this cosmetic and perfume blow out.

"My friend. My friend brought me," said Fresno's Alexandra Honeycutt.

Rosalinda Mendibles from Fresno said: "From my daughter. She used to work at Gottschalks."

"A friend of mine called me," said John Blancas.

In a back room at /*Gottschalks*/ former corporate headquarters cases of unused high-end perfumes, colognes and make-up fill this room and so are the people looking for a great deal.

Honeycutt: "A lot of stuff for 20 bucks. All these perfumes."

Blancas: "Big bottles for 20, 25 bucks."

Former Gottschalks C.E.O. Jim Famalette told Action News the money raised this week will help pay off estate debt. Many of the workers helping at the register are former employees who volunteered their time.

"I told them I would be more than happy to do it. And we've been working on it and getting it set up," said Meta Recendez.

Recendez said she is impressed how many people have come through the doors. "We're seeing a lot of repeat customers. Already. Believe it or not we have customers," she exclaimed.

And some of those customers see this as one last chance to say a final farewell to this Valley retail legacy.

Blancas: "It's sad that it's happening. But there's nothing we can do but enjoy these sales."

Mendibles: "I used to never shop Gottschalks but now that I see everything I wish I would have." Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m. This sale will continue until Friday night.
