Kohl's is set to open at the Merced Mall at the end of September. The store is planning to hire about 120 employees for everything from sales to loss prevention, but only part-time positions are available right now.
City officials say along with the new jobs, Kohl's also brings the potential to attract more large retailers.
Merced City Manager John Bramble said, "Kohl's is going to be a key because it will show what the community is doing in terms of rebounding from the bad economy."
Kohl's is hosting a job fair at the Holiday Inn on Parsons Avenue in Merced that starts Sunday and runs through Thursday.
