Daring Dachshunds Mysterious Journey

Kingsburg, CA Max has a reputation for being quite an escape artist. But when he opened a window and chewed through a screen, his owners never expected he'd end up 500 miles away. They found out with Max anything is possible.

You couldn't wipe the smile off four-year-old Bella if you tried. She's been asking her grandma about Max for months.

Max's disappearance was especially upsetting to the kindergartner who was full of questions for her grandma about whether he would ever return.

Tuesday Pamela Ekizian took Max everywhere she went, even to work at the Kingsburg boutique she owns. One thing has changed about the dashing dachshund; he's way more clingy now.

Ekizian said, "We had him out today without a leash and he was just following us around. He didn't even move from our sight. I think he's like pretty set like, no that was my last adventure for a while."

Now that he's home safe and offering plenty of wet greetings, theories abound about max's journey.

"He looks the same. His hair is cut, whoever had him trimmed him up and threw the collar away. And I knew when I hadn't seen him that somebody had taken him," said Ekizian.

Ekizian is almost sure max pulled one of his famous disappearing acts on his new caretakers in Arizona. Max was picked up near busy interstate 10 in Phoenix. And when he showed up at the pound his microchip led them to the Ekizian's. Now Max has traded his life in the big city and is back in quiet Kingsburg … hopefully this time for good.

The Ekizians have barriers set up to prevent max from going on any adventures alone. It's been quite expensive repairing damage from his getaways. As for Bella, she's already begging to spend the night at grandmas just to play with Max.
