Reedley Enns Pontiac Buick GMC Dealership Closure

Reedley, CA For 70 years, good words and handshakes sold cars and created lifelong friends at Enns Pontiac Buick GMC.

Earl Enns said, "It's sad and it's hard because we had hoped that the business would go on, either with family members or someone else buying it. But because of the economy selling it didn't seem to work out so we made the decision to retire and close it up."

In 1936 jack and John Enns opened the dealership; four decades ago their sons took it over. As the last cars pull in to be serviced, memories are bittersweet. Some employees told us they didn't want to be interviewed because they would cry. Earl Enns is trying to embrace the idea of retiring, not working seven days a week will be a big change.

Enns said, "I'm 73 years ago and I've been thinking about it for five years. It finally comes you say ok it's long enough, it's time to move on and try something different."

In Downtown Reedley, the closure is the chatter among residents in the small town. John Sanchez worked at Enns for 32 years.

Sanchez said, "They're an icon. I mean gosh, they've been there since 1936. Pontiac Buick GMC no longer in Reedley, it hurts. It hurts the public all their loyal customers."

Ron Berglund stopped in Friday to capture some pictures to share with others in his Pontiac club. His love of Pontiacs dates back decades.

Berglund said, "I knew their dad jack. He was one of the founders of Enns Pontiac. It really is the end of an era."

The few remaining cars on the lot are being liquidated. The car dealership that once offered brand new Buicks for less than 1000 dollars is a done deal.
