The Shawna Kilbert Cervical Cancer Run is this weekend and organizers hope this is the first of many to come.
Shawna Kilbert passed away in March, but the 34-year-old wife and mother keeps giving even after she's gone.
Her wish was to help other women like her in their fight against cervical cancer. Her friends and family took that wish to heart and started the Shawna Kilbert Project.
100% of the funds raised will go to helping women in the local community in their fight and prevention of cervical cancer.
During Shawna's fight, her friends and neighbors held fundraisers, such as a Turkey Bowl on Thanksgiving, to help pay for her experimental treatment.
After her death, Regis and Kelly gave the Kilbert family a Mother's Day surprise in her honor, a basketball court in their backyard. Now the Kilbert family said, it's time to pay it forward.
