A&M opened in 1969 and expanded to four locations. But they are trying to remain open to honor their customers' warranties.
Lee Horwitz said, "Most companies just turn around and lock their doors and walk away. And open up the next day as another name. We put our home numbers on our car. And we stay totally accountable and I want to continue to stay accountable."
The A&M stores at Shaw and Valentine and Shaw & Clovis Avenues are being shut down. So far the company has laid off 25 employees. Managers hope to fast track the bankruptcy process.
