The murders happened two years ago in front of Luevano's three daughters. Mejia's attorney said his client accepted the deal this morning Tuesday against his advice.
He said he wanted to spare his step- daughters the anguish of taking the witness stand.
Michael Aed, Defense Attorney said: "His motivating factor was he did not want his three young, what he considered to be his children, although not biological he raised them since they were very young; he didn't want them to have to testify and relive the nightmare that he lives every day."
Mejia will be formally sentenced November 13th.
