Officer Daniel Gomez provided the first testimony about Seth's final days. Fresno Police Officer Daniel Gomez said, "The paramedics were with the juvenile, Seth Ireland. He was laying there on the gurney."

Seth's mother Rena Ireland called paramedics on December 29, 2008. The 10 year old died a week later. Investigators blame Rena's boyfriend Lebaron Vaughn for beating the boy and killing him. Rena is charged with child abuse. Officer Tomas Cantu testified at Thursday's preliminary hearing that Vaughn a 160 pound man confessed to punching, kicking and standing on the boy's 80 pound body. Cantu said, "He mentioned that he was on top of Seth Ireland with his left foot on his head and his right foot on the lower portion of his body."

Cantu said Rena at first lied to protect her boyfriend, but she eventually confessed and detailed how Vaughn slammed Seth to the ground. Cantu said, "She demonstrated using her hands, picking up Seth Ireland, and dropping him to the ground and landing on his head."

The prosecutor will continue to present more testimony Friday morning at the courthouse. Then a judge will decide if there's enough evidence to send both defendants to trial.
