Storm Preparations and Sandbag Locations

Fresno, CA -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you live in Fresno and have flooding in your area, you can call 621-CITY and they'll get a crew out to your neighborhood.

You can get up to ten free sandbags at the Clovis Corporation Yard located at 155 N. Sunnyside Ave.

With rain and snow on its way, people all over the Valley are preparing for the season's first big storm. In Clovis, Steven Adams loaded up on several sandbags. The city is giving them away for free at their Corporation Yard on Sunnyside Avenue. "It's just the anticipation of having water problems. I want to protect my property and I hope everyone else is wise enough to do the same," said Adams.

Bill Hamilton is also planning ahead. He spent Monday clearing out rain gutters outside his Clovis home. He said, "What are you anticipating for this storm? I have no idea. That's why I'm out here doing what I can."

It was business as usual at Chicken Charlies inside the Big Fresno Fair. But, with the storm on its way, they've covered their cash registers with plastic bags. Fair officials are putting extra mats in high traffic areas, and stopping the flow of traffic where flooding may occur. Lauri King said, "We ourselves are preparing for rain, putting out some extra mats at all the doors. But the big thing is the show goes on. The fair will still be here."

Fresno city officials say the best thing people can do is plan ahead and be cautious when driving through the storm. And if you do experience flooding in your area, there will be crews standing by. Randy Reed said, "Yeah, we have crews on standby 24 hours a day to respond to those issues if they arise and so the public can be a good help to make sure flooding doesn't become a problem because of this storm."
