Lemoore Naval Air Station officials said they did not increase security measures at the base because they feel the Fort Hood shooting is an isolated incident.
Action News spoke with a sailor in Lemoore who said the base is well-guarded.
Broderick Decker said, "This base here is absolutely safe it's gated all around and all the way on or off is with an ID and all that so but everybody I've met here is definitely stable guys you don't have anybody coming back directly from combat to here.
The Lemoore Naval Air Station released a statement saying quote, "There are strict security measures at all of our gates and we have situational awareness across the entire perimeter of the installation. In addition, security personnel continuously patrol the base's perimeter, neighborhoods and facilities."
Base officials also said the entire navy family sends their deepest sympathies to their brothers and sisters at the Fort Hood army base
