The soldier suffered serious injuries in Afghanistan last month when he was shot by an insurgent disguised as an Afghan police officer.
Since then, his mother has been traveling back and forth to Walter Reed Medical Center.
Saturday, the other Blue Star Moms pitched in to help.
"You know it could be your son. You know it could be your child. It hurts. So you want to make sure these kids are not forgotten, know their community stands behind them, and we're there to help them. Whatever they need, we will be there for them," said Gale Carroll with the Central Valley Blue Star Moms.
Some of the bikers who participated in Saturday's poker run are veterans themselves, so they understand what Hughes family is going through.
Hughes' mother was present for the benefit, but she's flying out again this weekend to be by his side.
