Customs officials who thought they were inspecting a shipment of Christmas ornaments got quite a surprise at Los Angeles Harbor. Those so-called "ornaments" turned out to be more than 300-thousand glass bongs ... commonly used for smoking marijuana.

The discovery was made Thursday morning. The bongs were packed and labeled as ornaments.

U.S. Customs and border protection said agents found the pipes in 860 boxes shipped from china. The cargo is estimated to be worth more than two-point -six million dollars.

Customs spokeswoman Cristina Gamez says the importer remains under investigation and there have been no arrests. She says it is illegal to import or export drug paraphernalia in the United States.
