Last month, many people complained after smart meters were installed and electric bills doubled or even quadrupled.
The ad states the meters have been tested for accuracy. PG&E officials say Smart Meters were installed during the same time March rate increases went into effect.
"The reason customers saw a rate increase was not because we installed the smart meters but because of timing. It caused some confusion and what we're hoping to is clarify that a little bit," said PG&E Spokesperson Jeff Smith.
Last week The Public Utilities Commission agreed to hire an independent consultant to test the new digital meters.
