The 10th Street on-ramp to northbound U.S. Highway 101 was reopened at 9:48 p.m. Saturday, California Highway Patrol Officer Ralph Caggiano said.
It was closed after a water main break created a sinkhole and caused flooding in front of 290 Division St. at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, San Francisco fire Lt. Ken Smith said.
The flooding spread throughout the area, prompting San Francisco police to close four intersections early Sunday morning in order to do clean-up operations and safety assessments, police spokesman Officer Boaz Mariles said.
Intersections at Potrero Avenue and Division Street, Division Street and San Bruno Avenue, 9th and Brannan streets, and Bryant and 10th streets were closed, he said.
The intersections are not expected to re-open until between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. today, Mariles said. The water is up to 2 feet deep in some areas.
"We are asking people to stay away from the area while we investigate the road safety," Mariles said.
Traffic is being conducted around the intersections, he added.
Mariles said at least one building had been damaged by the flooding, and the city was in contact with the building's owners. Details about the extent of the damage were not immediately available.
