At least one, Mexicana flight out of Fresno Yosemite International Airport was canceled leaving passengers waiting for hours.
The canceled Mexicana flight has created a ripple effect across the airline's schedule. Mexicana said it had to cancel a flight because of fog, and passengers are still here after waiting overnight to find out when they can fly out of F.Y.I.
Nerves could be seen and felt in the crowded check-in line at Mexicana airlines at F.Y.I., overnight. Many travelers got on their cell phones to tell friends and loved ones in Mexico their flight was cancelled because of fog.
Robert Martinez and his family from Clovis are trying to get to Mexico City to spend time with their loved ones for the holidays. "With all this luggage and our kid. We were planning to have a good time. I don't know what's going to happen."
Ticketing agents scrambled to try to re-book passengers, but some travelers wondered if that was possible during the holiday crunch.
Some passengers even started to question the airline's explanation of fog as the reason for the cancellation.
"They said the flight was completely canceled because of fog but we don't see any fog. They are overbooked...we don't know what day we're going to leave," said passenger Enid Perez.
Mexicana Airlines told action news its pilots are not trained to fly in fog.
Many passengers say they felt they're in another kind of fog, not knowing when they'll get to Mexico.
