Small quake rocks San Francisco Bay area

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude-4.1 temblor hit at 10:09 a.m. Thursday. It was centered 11 miles northeast of San Jose.

Bay Area Rapid Transit experienced brief delays after the quake. A spokeswoman for the Caltrain commuter rail which serves the Silicon Valley says there were no service disruptions.

According to USGS data, the last time the Bay Area experienced an earthquake above magnitude-4.0 was March 30, when a magnitude-4.3 temblor hit Morgan Hill several miles southeast of San Jose.
