Parents in Southwest Fresno are not giving up the fight for a new school. A group of parents rallied outside Wednesday's school board meeting chanting and carrying signs.

They want a new middle school for the area. There hasn't been a middle school in Southwest Fresno for nearly 30 years. Students are bused to five different schools throughout the district.

Organizers say despite the governor's call for additional cuts to elementary grade education, a new middle school is possible.

The group is hoping for the new school to be built in the Carver area, between Church and Jensen Avenue.
