After that, Quintero worked with Mike Dages, who replaced him on city council.
"Serving as your city council member for eight years and as council assistant for the last 8 years has given me the passion, the knowledge, the experience, and the vision to work with the mayor, council members, the police department and others to get things done," said Sal Quintero, Fresno City Council Candidate.
Quintero has some hurdles to overcome, though.
He's pleaded guilty to two cases of drunk driving in the last three years.
He also faces at least five challengers, including Fresno Unified School board member Valerie Davis.
