Sheriff's Dept. holds crab feed fundraiser

FRESNO, Calif.

About 400 people attended a crab feed at the Clovis Veterans Memorial Building.

All the money raised will go toward the Nonprofit Sheriff's Foundation for public safety.

The sheriff said the support from the community has been overwhelming following a very tough week.

"This is a positive experience. We need this right now. Everybody here, everyone I've talked to has expressed their support, has expressed their condolences. And the message to law enforcement out there is, their public supports them with what they do," said Sheriff Margaret Mims, Fresno County Sheriff's Department.

The sheriff says money raised Saturday night will go toward summer programs for youth from underserved areas.
