California Hooters Employees File Class-Action Suit

FRESNO, California The Hooters in North Fresno -- is included in the lawsuit, along with restaurants in Sacramento and Bakersfield.

A group of former employees and their attorneys claim franchise owners broke California labor laws ... by denying servers rests or meal breaks ... and refusing to pay employees overtime.

Plantiff's Attorney Burton Boltuch said, "They required employees to cover for their shortages if a customer walked out without paying and we have evidence to suggest they altered the time records to cover up illegal practices."

Other employees say they were forced to buy their own uniforms and to give portions of their tips to managers.

Hooters restaurant officials would not comment on the claims made in the lawsuit.
