The Employment Development Department reported Friday morning that the state's loss followed a gain of 32,000 jobs in January. The number of jobs in California has fallen 4.1 percent from the same time last year.
The department says many of those losses occurred in the construction industry, which lost over 21 thousand jobs.
Here in the Valley the unemployment rate saw very little change in the month of February when compared to January.
Fresno and Tulare counties saw a slight increase. Both have a rate of just over 18.5 percent.
Merced County also saw an increase at 22.1 percent.
Mariposa County say a slight drop in claims, with a rate now at 14.5 percent.
Kings and Madera counties did not change in February.
