Increased Water Allowance for Valley Farmers

Snow survey officials were in the Sierra throwing down their measuring sticks and collecting the latest data for the state's water project.

Communities will each get an additional five-percent in allocated water, which brings the total to twenty.

While it's a nice boost to some, some Valley farmers say it's just not enough.

Jim Simonian said, "What we need in this Valley is storage. On the wet years we store it. And on the dry years we can use it. It's as simple as that."

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is supporting a bond measure in November that would give the San Joaquin Valley more resources to storage facilities and conservation options for the area.
