Richard Riley says he heard a gunshot while walking outside a local liquor store. So, he rushed in to help his friend -- the cashier.
A surveillance camera captured the scuffle between the suspect and Riley ... as he tried to wrestle the gun from his hand. That gave the storekeeper enough time to grab a baseball bat.
Richard Riley said, "I hope he gets what he deserves ... I think the baseball bat did something to him, but he deserves a little more time."
No one was seriously hurt in the confrontation.
A probation officer who saw the video identified the suspect ... who's now being held on $200-thousand dollars bond.
