Five cars and a big-rig in HWY 99 crash

VISALIA, Calif. The CHP says a big rig ran over a piece of wood causing about 25 gallons of fuel to spill onto the road. Officers shut down one lane to clean up the mess.

That closure caused five cars to crash about a quarter mile up the road.

"When you see traffic slowing, slow down, see what's going on in front of you," California Highway Patrol Sgt. Matt Tweed said.

Six people suffered minor injuries. One victim was air lifted to the hospital as a precaution. Firefighters shoveled sand on the fuel to clean it up.
