Wednesday was the official ground breaking for a new track and pool complex at Bullard High School.

Once completed the new facility will have a fifty meter swimming pool with spectator seating, a concession stand and Fresno Unified's first pool for disabled students.

The project also includes a nine lane, all-weather track. Bullard is one of the last Fresno Unified High Schools to receive upgrades that were approved by the school board in 2008, because of neighbors concerns with noise, traffic and parking.

Fresno Unified Board Member, Michelle Asadoorian said, "The community raised some valid concerns as disappointed as we were at the time we had to go through the proper legal requirements to move forward."

The new facilities will cost nearly $6 million. The pool is expected to be finished next March and the track should be done next fall.
