Two job fairs expected to draw big crowds

FRESNO, Calif. Tuesday's job fair at 5 p.m. at the Island Water Park is for aquatics positions only -- that means lifeguards and ride attendants who must pass their C.P.R. certification before they start the job. That may limit the number of people who will apply compared to how many people show up a few weeks ago to the first job fair.

Last month's job fair for nearly 400 positions drew a crowd of 4,000! It took more than three and a half hours just to get all of the applicants into the Island Water Park. Teens, parents, even grandparents lined up long before the gates opened, all competing for the same thing. Many had already been looking for work for months.

The positions are seasonal, with the season running from May 9th to September 26th.

Tuesday night people must have their applications filled out by 5pm, which they can download from the park's web site, islandwaterpark.com. The gates will close shortly after 5pm.

There is one more Island Water Park job fair scheduled for May 18th.

Tuesday night, also at five, Selma Auto Mall will be interviewing for 15 to 20 sales positions within the eight car dealerships there. That job fair is at the Spike 'N' Rail Restaurant located at Highway 99 and Highway 43.

Applicants should have a valid driver's license and a completed application that can be found on the Selma Auto Mall website.
