Family members say 27-year-old Eric Garcia stopped by the store after work to buy a pack of cigarettes. His wife Jessica was waiting outside in the car. She said two men in the store started saying something to her husband, then followed him out of the store. One pulled a gun and started shooting.
Jessica believes her husband was shot five times.
Garcia lived nearby and family members and neighbors rushed to try and help. His mother in law, Becky Telles was angry and upset. She said the shooting occurred in broad daylight and believes witnesses know who was responsible. She said her son in law did not deserve to be "shot down like an animal."
Porterville Police were searching for two suspects seen running from the store after the shooting. In addition to his wife, Eric Garcia is survived by two children. His 11-year-old son and six-year-old daughter.
