Fresno County house fire leaves couple with burn wounds

FRESNO, Calif. The fire broke out around 10:30 Saturday night near Calwa. Fresno County firefighters say a woman was taken to Community Regional Medical Center by ambulance.

Her husband was treated at the scene before also being taken to the hospital. Neighbors say the couple's home had no electricity, and they had been using candles in the house.

One neighbor told Action News he tried to help put out the flames but the fire was too powerful.

"It just spread.... it was just out of control," Jose Montano said.

Firefighters say strong winds last night caused the flames to spread quickly.

PG&E also called to the scene because of the reported power outage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
