Fresno woman saved from burning house

FRESNO, Calif. The flames ignited just after 11 p.m. Tuesday night on Tenaya near Fruit in Northwest Fresno.

Neighbors told fire crews someone might be inside the home. Firefighters found the woman in the master bedroom -- unconscious and without a pulse.

She was pulled from the house and taken to the hospital. Her condition is said to be improving.

Now firefighters are trying to figure out how the fire started.

"The damage is primarily to the kitchen area and to the exterior adjacent to the kitchen. It's not known if the fire started on the exterior and spread inside," said Rich Willard with the Fresno Fire Department.

No one else was hurt, but the woman's dog died in the fire.
