Fresno County Deputies found the suspect's car abandoned in a field near HWY 180 and Brawley. Deputies shut down a portion of Brawley for a couple hours during the morning commute. That's where deputies conducted an intense search on foot.
They found the suspect hiding in a field 50 feet from his car.
Madison Elementary was placed on lockdown, though classes hadn't started yet.
Deputies believe the suspect -- a wanted parolee-- shot a man twice around 5:30 this morning nearby at Lassen and Kearney near Kerman. The victim is recovering at Community Regional Medical Center.
