City of Fresno holds a job fair for laid-off workers

FRESNO, Calif.

The city held a job fair in Central Fresno. Hundreds of city workers received pink slips because Fresno faces a $30.6-million dollar shortfall.

Job fair organizers say they're happy to offer help to those being let go.

"It's a very difficult time and so we've been very pleased that our local employers and local temp agencies have been able to partner up with us in this event," said Melany Felton with the City of Fresno.

This will be the last time the city will hold an event to help laid-off city workers, but a personnel hotline is available.
