Fresno Police scoured the Southwest Fresno neighborhood for evidence Friday after a man, and ten-year-old girl were shot while riding inside the black car.

Investigators say they were driving down Plumas Avenue when the suspects pulled up alongside them in another vehicle and fired several rounds.

Lt. Martinez of the Fresno Police Department said, "I've been told the car was struck at least 8 to 10 times, so there were probably at least a dozen rounds fired."

A third person in the car ... a five-year-old boy ... was not hit.

Joey Fuentes was playing outside with his kids when the shooting happened, He said, "I heard about ten shots. At first I thought it was fireworks like the fourth of July, but they were gunshots. I told my kids to get in the yard and go inside."

When Fresno Police arrived on scene, they were met with a group of about 50 people, including family members who were trying to help the victims. At one point, police were forced to push them away.

"We did have a few people literally rush the crime scene and officers had to push them back and secure the area, so that victims could be tended to by paramedics and to stabilize the scene," said Lt. Martinez.

Police say the weapon used was likely a long gun or high-powered rifle. If you have any information, call the Fresno Police Department.
