Kidnapped California girl found in Phoenix

FRESNO, Calif.

Investigators found the now seven-year-old girl yesterday at a house in Phoenix. They say a woman tried to hide the child in a bathroom.

Detectives say the child was scared but in good physical condition. Her name was not released.

"Within a few hours we were able to confirm the identity of the young girl as a female who had been abducted at one-year of age from Norwalk, California. The identification was done via footprint from the department," said Trent Crump with the Phoenix Police Department.

Police say the girl's three biological aunts took the girl from her foster parents six-years ago during a noncustodial visit to Chuck-E-Cheese in Southern California. Authorities say the girl's name and birth date were changed and she did not attend school.

They say she was living with people that were not her family.
