The multi-million dollar suit claims the chiropractor groups scammed Allstate insurance by illegally operating as medical groups.

The plaintiffs in the case are the people of the state of California and Allstate insurance. The defendants -- a long list of Valley chiropractors, a doctor and several medical clinics including San Joaquin Accident and Medical Group on Gettysburg and Cedar in East-Central Fresno.

The suit alleges that Chiropractor Dolphus Dwayne Pierce and Doctor Tomas Ballesteros Rios established fake professional medical corporations that provided traveling medical doctors to chiropractic offices.

Allstate claims the doctors performed medical services and dispensed prescription medications to patients all for financial gain, and without regard to patient care and safety.

The suit, filed Wednesday in Fresno County Superior Court seeks damages in excess of $3-million for payments Allstate has made to the defendants.

Allstate claims insurance scams like this one end up costing everyone up to $300.00 a year in increased premiums and says all patients need to be vigilant.
